Looked over weblog today.

  • 5. hsd_skycal: Warning: Elevation difference between ON and OFF for uid___A002_Xfb8480_X1264c.ms field Sgr_A_star antenna PM01 spw 17 was 3.7672334573645188deg exceeding the threshold 3.0deg.
    • Applies for many spws. The number of degrees does not exceed 4 deg for any spws.
  • Low flagging percentages (<8.4%) for all antennas in all measurement sets. Higher flagging percentage in higher number spws.
  • 7. hsd_applycal: Things look relatively okay. However, assuming color scheme is the same between plots, pink points are sometimes above all other points, then sometimes below.
  • 9. hsd_baseline: QA Warning: Poor baseline flatness in uid___A002_Xfb8480_X1264c.ms, Sgr_A_star, PM01, virtual spw 27, XX
    • Applies to spw 25 and 27. Spectral data before baseline subtraction (first is spw 25, second is spw 27):

    • Baseline flatness after baseline subtraction:

  • 11. hsd_baseline: Warning: Poor baseline flatness in uid___A002_Xfb8480_X1264c.ms, Sgr_A_star, PM04, virtual spw 25, XX
    • Applies to spw 25, 27, and 21.
  • 13. hsd_imaging: Warning: Fraction of masked pixels in image uid___A001_X15a0_Xb0.s13_54.Sgr_A_star_sci.spw21.cube.I.iter0.image.sd is 0.0469%.
    • That percentage doesn't seem very high, so it might be fine.

That was all for the first weblog: Extra Weblog Sgr_A_st_c_03_TP_0 -> pipeline-20220719T234420

For the second weblog, Extra Weblog Sgr_A_st_c_03_TP_1 -> pipeline-20220802T044920, the first error (by task) is in 1. hifa_importdata.

Side note: I don't really understand why these tasks start with hifa, whereas in the other weblog they start with hsd. I thought hsd might have meant TP, since in the ALMA workshop, which was about the whole array, the tasks started with hifa.

Task summary page says "calibrators missing" for hifa_importdata. Seems like that was a fatal error, because no other tasks seemed to run:

Another weird thing: first weblog did not have a target ms, just two regular measurement sets and a few ".ms.atmcor.atmtype1" ones. The second one only has .target.ms files and .ms files, no atm-adjacent ones.

First weblog was processed in CASA 6.2.1.7. Second weblog was processed in CASA 6.4.3.2.

Sorry for all the separate comments! Another difference: first weblog ms sizes are reported in GB, second weblog ms sizes are reported in GiB. But they are for observations at the same time, in general.

(Edit: Adam says this is probably due to the CASA version difference between the two weblogs.)

Regarding:

13. hsd_imaging: Warning: Fraction of masked pixels in image uid___A001_X15a0_Xb0.s13_54.Sgr_A_star_sci.spw21.cube.I.iter0.image.sd is 0.0469%.

Ash suggested we download the data and look at them to confirm that there are no central pixels that are masked.

Here is the max intensity map for spw21, the one affected in the above warning:

Looks like the bottom corners are flagged (?). This is also true for a few other spectral windows, and some have only one corner flagged.

If the corners are flagged, I think we're in the clear, so that's good. It would be best to confirm this by checking the FITS cubes if possible.

@abulatek could you look at the cubes and see if they're OK? If they are, we'll call this done

Looked over this cube:

/orange/adamginsburg/ACES/rawdata/2021.1.00172.L/science_goal.uid___A001_X1590_X30a8/group.uid___A001_X1590_X30a9/member.uid___A001_X15a0_Xb0/product/member.uid___A001_X15a0_Xb0.Sgr_A_star_sci.spw25.cube.I.sd.fits

Besides the first and last ~120 channels being NaNs, it's just those two pixels in the lower left corner in every channel that are flagged. Nothing in the center.

Currently checking the other spws (realized I checked the wrong one):

uid___A001_X15a0_Xb0.s13_54.Sgr_A_star_sci.spw21.cube.I.iter0.image.sd

Couldn't find that file anywhere in the ACES data; the only results for the following search in /orange/adamginsburg/ACES

find . -name "uid___A001_X15a0_Xb0.s13_54.Sgr_A_star_sci.spw21.cube.I.iter0.image.sd*"

were .png files in the /rawdata/2021.1.00172.L/weblogs/pipeline-20220719T234420/ directory. So I looked at this one instead, which was in the same parent directory as the other cube I looked at:

/orange/adamginsburg/ACES/rawdata/2021.1.00172.L/science_goal.uid___A001_X1590_X30a8/group.uid___A001_X1590_X30a9/member.uid___A001_X15a0_Xb0/product/member.uid___A001_X15a0_Xb0.Sgr_A_star_sci.spw21.cube.I.sd.fits

Looks qualitatively identical to the other cube I looked at (spw25): besides first and last ~120 channels being flagged, there are two pixels in the lower left corner of every channel that are flagged; nothing in the center.

HCO+ emission is at the edge of the band (SPW 21) leading to subtraction of line emission
