Can't change Control settings

Description

So what's going on is every time I try to change my default control settings in preferences and key the controls to different keybinds on my keyboard it refuses to work at all it only works on default control settings.

Please fix this.

Reproduction steps

1. open preferences.
2. click on controls
3. change a keybind to something else.
4. try to use that changed keybind.
5. spam the newly changed keybind and realize it does not work lol.
