Hi! I am wondering if there is a way to search the Beta Masaheft project for manuscripts with original bindings (i.e. that have not been rebound). Is there a search term for this? I hope this is the right place to ask!

Currently the facets available under https://betamasaheft.eu/newSearch.html (clicking on "+" and selecting manuscripts one gets the manuscripts facets) do not include this; this can surely be added but has to wait until the new release.

In the meanwhile the easiest way to look for any particular aspect is to use the xpath search; knowing the XML path one can easily filter searches for any element, in this case e.g. knowing that this information is encoded inside of the binding description as

<bindingDesc>
                     <binding contemporary="true">

we can look for the xpath $config:collection-rootMS//t:bindingDesc/t:binding[@contemporary='true']
and get the hits https://betamasaheft.eu/xpath.html?xpath=%24config%3Acollection-rootMS%2F%2Ft%3AbindingDesc%2Ft%3Abinding%5B%40contemporary%3D%27true%27%5D
These are over 2000, if needed, the search can be further refined

If the encoders have used the element
<custEvent type="restorations" subtype="none">
then this filter is present in fullSearch

but gets fewer hits as this element was not used consistently
