There's also the thesis collection, which is aligned with INSPIRE institutions through manual curation, not by harvesting INSPIRE

So you mean that in that case there is no way to understand if the value would be normalized beforehand? I am trying to avoid just search in INSPIRE for every possible affiliation value.

In principle they should, but because it's a manual process, some values might have slipped through or have typos. @PaulinaBaranowska should have a better idea of the extent to which these are really normalized in practice.
