Features

• The report number should be migrated. Do we need report numbers for new ones?
• Many experiments have a thesis collection. Idea:
  1. migrate all thesis: migrated content is still searchable in CDS (see example here)
  2. block the submission of new thesis
  3. move the submission of new thesis to the new CDS
  4. via OAI-PMH, harvest new thesis from new CDS to old CDS, put them in the right collection and automatically mark them as migrated

• File stamping: the report number is stamped in the PDF
• Collection/Facets: create a collection or a facet for Doctoral/Technical thesis
• Claiming: there is a GENSBM "Theses Claims" to claim theses

Form

• Can search for similar titles: do we need it? (later dev stages?)
• Input multiple titles, different languages: do we need it? (already part of RDM)
• Custom fields:
  • Thesis subject ( can it be handled by subject and keywords?
  • Experiment (done as part of SSPN)
  • Accelerator (done as part of SSPN)
  • Study (done as part of SSPN)
  • Diploma award
  • Submission date
  • Defense date
  • CERN funded?

To check

• CMS is publishing thesis via iCMS, example. The librarians are curating the set (added CERN-THESIS... report number).
• Investigate the bst_inspire_cds_synchro, if IDs for Thesis should be sent to INSPIRE (depend on report number/DOI creation)

Tasks

• analyse the current submission sources
• come up with a list of stakeholders for the project
• list and analyse the requirements
• Create a OAI-PMH set for INSPIRE
• Scripts are performing searches for thesis, for example ALICE. Check logs.

Questions

1. custom field: diploma award, could it be handled by "awards" ?
2. custom field: CERN funded - which cases does it apply and can it be a part of funders/awards?
3. Submission date and defense date: could it be handled by "dates?"
4. To discuss in details: thesis imprint field
5. Theses vs CERN Theses, difference of about 200 records, are there non-CERN Thesis? what do we do about it?
