Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

I think that trade in general is completely imbalanced and interferes/destroys the loot game, of the most important parts of the game in my opinion. We had some amazing additions like category based item spawn rates, but what´s the point when you can get anything you want, day one for basically free?

Solution you would like.

Don´t know in what direction the solution should go. just some ideas:

  • Balance the cost of items and make them harder to get this way. In addition you could add a relation/trust based solution. The shop and the inventory would slowly open up based on the relation. Trust would be earned by doing missions for example.
  • You could limit trade to special currency. You would earn said currency for missions and maybe some specific trade item? The Refugee Center could hand out this currency for providing canned food and or medicine etc. (this is kinda already in the game, except you are not limited to "Merch" for trade)
  • A quick and dirty fix could be, to increase prices by 5x-10x for weapon/guns and armor and everything else maybe by 2-3x?

Describe alternatives you have considered.

Ignore trade for some arbitrary RP reason.

Given when this fork was created, the "trust" thing already exists with some of the trading factions - it is very much noticeable with the Exodii (and it is also really cheesable too). Although with that being said, I think that it would be nice if they had different offers for things you could "trade with them" in exchange for completing missions or completing an arbitrary number of tasks for them instead.

I do still think that trading in goods is better than trading with a replacement currency because in the end people don't want "paper with number on it" if they are looking for food or for materials to craft something they need.

For instance, maybe instead of "random IOU bills" (merch) or coins, each faction would value things differently:

  • Refugee Center would value food, clothes, meds, cleaning products and some weapons and guns better than random crap;

  • Hub01 would value chemicals, electronics and certain metals (gold, bronze, copper) as well as certain parts for electronic building, as well as "sealed foods" over other junk (maybe with an exception for "inactive (robots)", which they would maybe request as a quest or as a "always wanting these things in exchange for things you may like" sort of deal, such as EMP grenades or the ability to "order" EMP grenades, better equipment or access to maps of certain areas that Hubsy may have scouted over the past x days.);

  • The Exodii would potentially want tons of oil, fuel, charcoal/coal, metals, and electronics and not care about other things as much (or at all, before they have trading routes with other factions setup!);

Although implementing this would mean a lot of work (something that I do not have the know-how to do myself, I am not an IT literate person), unless there is a way to outright add a blanket ban to factions buying certain categories altogether, although this would be very hacky. A fluctuating "value for item" per faction would be certainly too complex to ask for, and fiddling with bartering prices also seems a bit too hacky as well.

(these are just suggestions, however, they are in no way requests or counter arguments).
