Default value for fields

It would be nice to have the option while creating models to enter an optional default value for the field. Right now, I have a description for the field as "Default: hello", so every time I create an item I would have to copy and paste the default from the description. For example, for the "Object" field type, the default is "null", and we cannot change it. It's a good default, but it should be changeable. Thoughts?
