I am currently experiencing an issue with Anaconda Navigator version 2.6.3 on my M4 silicon-based machine. Upon launching the navigator, it prompts me to update to version 2.6.4, strongly recommending the update. The update process can be initiated from the desktop navigator, but it fails. Instead, it suggests running the command “install anaconda-navigator” directly in the terminal. However, this command does not yield any results and merely informs me that the current version is already updated.
After attempting to update my old MacBook Pro Intel machine, the update process was successful, and I was able to upgrade from version 2.6.2 to 2.6.4.
Therefore, it appears that the issue is limited to silicon-based machines. To resolve this, I downgraded the navigator from version 2.6.3 to version 2.6.2 on my silicon machine. Subsequently, attempting to update directly from version 2.6.2 to 2.6.4 resulted in a clear error message, as depicted in the attached image. However, updating from version 2.6.2 to version 2.6.3 proceeded smoothly and successfully.
Upon further investigation, it appears that there are incompatible packages in version 2.6.4 for silicon-based machines. Specifically, two lines in red are highlighted in the following image:
