Hi Larry,
are you still interested to continue development on this project?
I think it is currently behind the status of the db engine in D8. Can I say, 3 years behind? (that's the latest commit, says the project page)

I have some stuff that would be a useful addition: Human-readable query print.

+1 I sometimes have need for a simple SQL abstraction layer and it would be great to be able to use the DBTNG we know and love in non-drupal projects.
