For example, if there is a window maximized, and another window tiled to left, resize the top edge will resize both window, but IMHO, resize overlapped window is not a common use case and could be annoying.

I also occasionally stumble upon this annoying bug/feature.
Especially with a lot of floating windows, it sometimes happens, that an edge of a window on the front of the screen overlaps with an edge of a window somewhere hidden behind other windows. When resizing the this edge of the front window, the window hidden behind the other windows will also rescale.
Even though this is rare, this bug/feature can be especially annoying, since for most people, it is not what you would expect.

... the two windows are not on the same "layer"
.. .checking for opposing edges rather than allowing any edges
would be very welcome.
