I have never seem such an error, can you see in the actual log why that might be? (the logs are under tmp/work/arm../sudo.../temp/)

That's the last lines of the do_install.log. It looks like that in sudo_1.8.4p4.bb, in do_install_append, the $D isn't set to anything for some reason.

Indeed, it's just necessary for /usr/bin/sudo and /etc/sudoers to exist for the install to succeed. I think this never works properly until you have sudo installed on the build system. Might be an upstream bug then.
