Recent versions of Windows have WSL, which allows you to set up an ubuntu environment alongside (or within?) your windows setup, install software using apt-get, run GNU tools, etc.. We sometimes have partners working on Windows machines, and in theory WSL should make the setup easier than e.g. telling them to use git bash or cygwin or etc. We should have some instructions on how to set that up, and how to then set up git/snap etc. in wsl.
