I've used the program to download a yahoo group.

Are there any recommended tools that could be used for reading/searching the downloaded email jsons files (aside from some text editors)?

I guess in case you want to browse the content of your dump you may rather want to use this python script which also creates a browsable html file: https://github.com/csaftoiu/yahoo-groups-backup

for single files, this is an online viewer: http://jsonviewer.stack.hu/
