The microphone numbers don't always seem to stay the same. I might need to use a different identifier to keep track of them. I mostly noticed this in Rhasspy-Satellite, but also experienced it here as well. This happens if a USB mic that was plugged in isn't anymore.
Also, there seems to be an odd issue with with Rhasspy if the selected mic number is too high. It segfaults. I might need to explore that a bit more and maybe put in a PR over in Rhasspy land.

I can definitely confirm this behaviour. It keeps annoying me on my dev linux machine. I figure if Rhasspy would use device names for the recording devices as well, this would help. I will create an issue over there.
