Bug Description

I have 3 monitors 2 1080p (HDMI and DP connected) and 1 4k (DP connected).
When I have my main display set to 4k monitor, Playnite does not display backgrounds of games. When I switch my main display to 1080p monitor backgrounds are visible, but when i restart Playnite app, it crashes. App run properly only 4k monitor is set as main display.

I check it with default theme, safe mode and reinstall Playnite with deletion of whole app directory. At this moment I have portable version installed and problem still persists.

To Reproduce

  1. Main display is set for 4k or 1080p HDMI monitor.
  2. Playnite runs without backgrounds of games.
  3. Change main display to 1080p HDMI monitor.
  4. Backgrounds are visible in Playnite.
  5. Close app.
  6. Launch app again.
  7. Get crash info with question about Safe mode.
  8. Swith main display to 4k monitor.
  9. Playnite starts properly but without games backgrounds.

No idea how this could have happened. Also that safe mode dialog is suspect, that definitely shouldn't happen while doing steps you described.

Things to try:

  1. Try disabling hardware acceleration in advanecd settings. If it fixes the issue, it's most likely GPU driver issue or some other app on your system trying to hook into Playnite and messing with its rendering. See this for more info
  2. Maybe something broken with the system or Playnite install, try these steps to see if it fixes the issue
