Here, we keep a list of anything you notice that may be worth revising.

Note, use this list ...

  • ... for questions over both analysis and score.
    • Tag with either #analysis or #score
  • ... for clear errors and mere questions
    • Tag with either #TODO, #maybe, or #no
  • ... liberally
    • Show your working!
    • We currently have no other way of registering relative confidence.

Here goes ...

  • General:
    • Horn transposition changes mid-movement. #score #no
      • e.g. LvB 2-ii
    • not reliable in conversion.
    • Settled on one transposition per movement along with a note in the part: "[Original transposes to A here]"
  • Bach,_Johann_Sebastian
    • B minor mass,
      • movt 1
        • presents a particularly intricate case. Here we opt to follow the same motives, but also the stepwise motion when those motives are “filled in” by chromatic line hocketting between parts (bars 62-3, 75, 79). Choosing between motives is especially arbitrary when they are so evenly matched as in the episodes labelled d (58-61, 112-115). #analysis #no
        • Invalid annotations in b.57, continuo part. No sign of them on the score. Mystery. #score #maybe
    • Brandenburg_Concerto_No.4,_BWV.1049
      • 1
        • b.187 ff - more divisions (e.g., 4 bars) #analysis #maybe
        • b.215-229 hidden voice 2 and 3 due to solo violin in score. Consider simplifying voices. Or fine? #score #maybe
        • b.383 division to match b.39? #analysis #maybe
  • Beach,_Amy
    • A couple of tempo marks needed editing for musicXML (e.g., movt 3 measure 40). Review? #score #maybe
    • Instrument names: inconsistent across movements? Review? #score #maybe
    • Tacet instruments included: remove? #score #maybe
    • Use of "a4" consistent? #analysis #maybe
  • Beethoven,_Ludwig_van
    • 3/i: Horn 2 around bar 450. Rising major 7th leap. Consistent with Eulenberg. Check MS sources. #score #maybe
    • 9/ii
      • arco markings not effective in playback. #score #TODO
      • Large exact reprise: measure count (counting all bars including 1st/2nd time), 009-407 = 555-953. #score #no (just a note because this is more reliable than "DC as fine" in export as documented in the score notes).
      • "Ritmo di tre battute" included as text on part: flute (top part) except where specified. Making it a tempo marking would mean it appears on all parts, but affects the playback tempo. #score #no.
  • Brahms,_Johannes
    • .
  • Bruckner,_Anton
    • Tempo. We make no promises wrt playback, but still aim for it to be plausible. Here it doesn't seem to be possible to edit the hidden tempo markings (possibly an MS4 bug?). TODO: make them in square brackets at least. #score #TODO
    • Last movement coda structure. #score #TODO
      - Currently unable to add symbol in b.374 (figure Q),
      - unable to guarantee accurate repeat in playback and export.
