I have a stand-alone (Windows 10) computer on which I've installed MikTeX 24.1.
I can't figure a way to shut off the "tex: major issue: So far, no MikTeX administrator has checked for updates" warning every time I run TeX or the MikTeX console.
I thought one solution would be to setup a local repository into which I can manually copy packages, but there doesn't seem to be a way to install a local package repository. When I follow the instructions here:

https://miktex.org/howto/local-repository
I get the following error:
miktexsetup: couldn't resolve host name
miktexsetup: Data: code="6", url="https//api2.miktex.org/hello"
Have I no choice but to live with the perpetual "major issue" warning?
