Cosmic inflation is now regarded as the cornerstone of modern cosmology. The concept of cosmic inflation was first proposed by Alan Guth in 1981 physically motivated to solve three major problems in hot big bang cosmology, namely horizon problem, flatness problem and monopole problem.
