I have no idea if this is possible, but since CSUME can communicate with the MAMEHub lobby now, would it be possible to have it track/store and display player high scores for each game. Or maybe just the overall top score.

Can CSUME read the scores from memory?

  • Perhaps to limit data storage a player would have to actively choose to /submit (type in chat) the score.
  • Scores will only be tracked by the newest ROM dumps. This will also encourage players to use the same version and upgrade and limit storage space even further.
  • This would add a competitive element to MAMEHub other than fighting games, which may attract a larger crowd.
  • Cheating may become an issue once this feature becomes popular. Automatically including a screenshot for top scores when the player hits /submit might be an option.
