Currently the latest nheko release v0.12.0 cannot run the latest stable Debian (Bookworm) because the Qt version is too old. While nheko also offers a flatpak package, some users may be reluctant to install it due flatpak security concerns (s. e.g. here).
The Solution
Using the Qt Maintenance Tool from here, it is straight-forward to install a suitable Qt version (e.g. 6.6.3.) and compile nheko against that version using e.g. -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH=~/.lib/qt/6.6.3/gcc_64. The rest of the system's libraries are apparently sufficiently new and nheko runs great. Therefore, I suggest to document that installation method as well. I can make a PR ready, if you like.
Thanks,
Tycho
