BUG: Player controls are reversed!

I don't know why player controls are reversed (w and s move sideways and a and d move forward and backward). Inputs are set properly. If at the start I move the mouse to the left it works correctly.

Hey, that is very odd.

If it works correctly when you're facing a specific direction, then it seems like something got messed in the hierarchy. Did you by chance change anything inside the cogito_player scene hierarchy?
Could you post your node setup?

To help debug, you can also add this line to the cogito_player.gd script after line 424:

print("cogito_player.gd: input_dir = ", input_dir)

So in the end it should look like this;

This should print out your input when pressing WASD:
A = (-1,0)
D = (1,0)
W = (0,-1)
S = (0,1)

It's printing the input correctly.

EDIT 1: I tried removing transform.basis, and the same bug keeps happening, and the input bug kind of happens to other things:
-to start the flashlight, I have to first alt-tab the game, then I can click and it will turn on; otherwise, nothing happens, not even the animation.
-the more keys I press at once, the more unlucky I am to be able to toggle the flashlight (animation still plays, but it won't toggle the spotlight). What I mean is that if I stand still, it works normally (I press LMB and it toggles the spotlight). If I am walking while I try to press LMB, sometimes it will play the animation, but the spotlight doesn't toggle, and if I am sprinting, meaning I press W and shift at the same time, I have to click a few times to actually toggle the spotlight, but the animation still plays.

EDIT2: I tried the demo scenes and it seems I don't have the movement problems there but the flashlight ones remain but it happens less times.

EDIT3: I tried it on a gamepad and still the same bug.

EDIT4: It totally is something with my scene because I encountered another problem. If I try to drop the flashlight from my inventory it will create an error (add child on a null value but it loads slot_data.inventory_item.drop_scene)

Seems like there might be more issues going on.

Can you try a new clean install of COGITO and see if that one works?
Also confirm that you're using the latest main commit on the github and Godot version 4.2.1 ?

I have Godot version 4.2.1 and tried a new clean install, and everything seems to be working. Any ideas why it wouldn't work on my project?
In my project, I have a dungeon generator with premade rooms, and in one of the rooms, I spawn the player and have it only spawn one instance of this room in the dungeon. Would this affect anything?
EDIT: The flashlight seem to not work correctly on the clean install but with the movement I have no problem (I really care only about the movement)
EDIT2: I fixed it; the fact that I instantiated a room with the player in it was messing up the movement. After placing it before generating the dungeon in the editor, it works without any problem (any idea why?).
EDIT3: I still can't drop items.
EDIT$: Adding cogito scene script at the root of the scene fixed not being able to drop items.

Hard to say without seeing your level scene setup.

But since you spawn level scenes at runtime, I can see how this can trip up some of these systems.
Dropping items instantiates them and then adds them as children of the current scene node as saved in the Cogito Scene Manager.

The current scene as saved in the Cogito Scene Manager gets set/updated when a cogito_scene enters the tree (this makes sure there's always the correct scene loaded when transitioning between them).
Sorry this isn't more explicit in the docs, I'll update them now.

If you're instantiating your dungeon rooms at runtime, you could experiement a bit with how you use the cogito_scene.gd script.
For example if you modify it to update the "current_scene" of the Cogito Scene Manager everytime the player enters a room (via signals), then when the player drops an item, it will always be a child of that room node.

I was able to reproduce this on my end and will look into what's going on.
