Possibility on initialize different backends separately

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I was wondering if there is any ways to initialize different backends separately?

Just start the input and output as two different streams?

If you tried to start one stream in full duplex with two different devices for input and output -
I think this is not supported by portaudio.

Thanks for your reply. Is it possible to run Pa_Initialize but just with specific backends (like with ASIO but without MME)? so that some backend with device configured problematically can be skipped.
