Some users have to manage unique periods of time in their products. This unique seasonality could manifest as tri-mesters, fiscal years, growing seasons, etc. There is generally standardization to these patterns, but they probably aren't common enough to build into the options list for time units. Secondarily, the waypoints for transitioning between custom units might change year-to-year.
Describe the solution you'd like
Allow a user to configure or customize a time unit. Being able to group by a specific time period could improve a user's ability to compare semesters, growing seasons, etc.
How would we define a custom time unit? They could be composed of blocks of other time units (for example a semester is roughly 12–13 weeks), or they could have specific dates (the fall semester starts on August 23, 2021 and ends on December 3, 2021)
