I can't get step 6 (flash) to work. I have A603 Carrier Board, Orin Nano (P3767) module. Reading board information failed. The device is visible in recovery mode. Tried with JP 5.1.1 and JP 5.1.2. I'm using SD Card only. The only way I did it was the standalone image creation and flash SD with Etcher.

I wasn't able to flash an Orin Nano (P3767) module either. Specifically, flashing an external 1 TB NVMe (2230) connected to the A603 carrier board was failing using the above guide for R35.4.1/JP5.1.2.

What worked for me was to use the command documented in the official Nvidia documentation (instead of Step 6 documented in this guide):

sudo ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --external-device nvme0n1p1 -p "-c ./bootloader/t186ref/cfg/flash_t234_qspi.xml" -c ./tools/kernel_flash/flash_l4t_t234_nvme.xml --showlogs --network usb0 jetson-orin-nano-devkit nvme0n1p1

Your step 1 for JP6.1 is not correct, it downloads the wrong versions, it should download 36.4 in both commands. It worked when I manually downloaded the files from the Nvidia website here: https://developer.nvidia.com/embedded/jetson-linux-r3640

I tried flashing JP6.1 onto the A603 carrier board with the Orin Nano 8GB module. After successfully executing the flashing command in step 4 (sudo ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --external-device nvme0n1p1 -c tools/kernel_flash/flash_l4t_external.xml -p "-c bootloader/t186ref/cfg/flash_t234_qspi.xml" --showlogs --network usb0 jetson-orin-nano-devkit internal), the device functioned normally, including the USB ports.

I am encountering a few issues:

1. If I attempt to use the l4t_create_default_user.sh script and use a username that is anything other than nvidia the device is flashed successfully, however fails to boot.
2. Once flashed and connected as nvidia if I run sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade the device fails to boot on a reboot.

I am able to work around the first of these issues, however it is quite important to be able to ensure that all the packages on the device are up to date. Please advise how to upgrade the packages on the device without rendering it unable to boot and requiring a re-flash.

Like others, I too had issues with the USB ports working and not being able use l4t_create_default_user.sh.

I think I've solved it via:

1. Use sudo tools/l4t_create_default_user.sh -u {USERNAME} -p {PASSWORD} -a -n {HOSTNAME} --accept-license to create a user
2. For flashing use sudo ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --external-device nvme0n1p1 -c tools/kernel_flash/flash_l4t_external.xml -p "-c bootloader/generic/cfg/flash_t234_qspi.xml" --showlogs --network usb0 jetson-orin-nano-devkit internal. Note this command is slightly different to the Seeeed-provided one.

After this, I am able to login via ssh (headless) and the USB ports do work.

Are you able to run apt update && apt upgrade successfully with this? And what platform are you using? I'm on an Orin Nano and wondering if that has something to do with it. I'm pretty sure I've done this before with an Orin NX without issue...

Huh ... sudo apt update && apt upgrade broke USB support 😢 It upgraded the Jetson from Jetpack 6.1 (L4T 36.4.0) to Jetpack 6.2 (L4T 35.4.3). So the provided Seed BSP files aren't compatible with 6.2

@stephendade This did not solve my problem with the USB ports. Still not able to get a mouse moving :-( I appreciate the help! I think my next move is to try installing 6.0 and just keep working backwards until I find something that works... or assume my board is broken???

From what I understand, there is risk with running apt update && apt upgrade to a Jetpack Linux build in that it will break/overwrite the Jetpack customization. That being said, I have accidentally installed updates while shutting down and it still seemed to work OK with my developer kit breakout board. I am surprised that upgraded the Jetpack version. I thought the NVIDIA SDK / flashing like this was the only way to do that... so shows how little I know :-P

@neoscell, I did discover that if I simply re-ran the flashing command (l4t_initrd_flash.sh ) a second time, the board wouldn't boot for some reason. I had to delete the entire Linux_for_Tegra folder and start from the beginning. Maybe that helps?

Yes, very surprised that NVIDIA allows an auto-upgrade to JP6.2. I'm wondering it that's accidental...

I don't have an issue with the board booting. It loads Linux up and logs in. Looks like no power to the USB.

I checked the Linux_for_Tegra folders and the files are copying into that directory. I don't know where I am going wrong. Every time I get a successful flash and boot-up.

Like many others here, I'm having issues with the USB-A ports. I'm using an Orin Nano 8GB (from the developer kit, if that matters) with the A603 carrier and a 512GB SK Hynix SSD. The board boots fine, HDMI works, and I can ssh into it if I set up the user / hostname before flashing, but the USB-A ports aren't delivering power. If I run lsusb, I can see the USB hubs attached, so I'm guessing the data lines are fine, but the ports are definitely not delivering power.

The USB ports appear to properly deliver power at the start of the boot sequence, but at some point, they always shut off. This behavior is visible via the LEDs on my USB keyboard. If I leave the Force Recovery jumper installed, it takes a lot longer for the USB ports to stop delivering power.

There is an open issue on the Seeed Studio Wiki Github, but there are no real updates yet.

I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to these flashing details, but I banged some rocks together and ran a couple "experiments" (all using JP6.1):

• Flashed using Nvidia SDK Manager
  • Same exact behavior, the board boots and HDMI works, but no USB power
• Flashed using the above instructions for the A603, while the module was actually installed in the dev kit carrier board
  • No video from the DisplayPort, but the USB ports work fine

This definitely implies that either something is wrong with the provided drivers, or the copy-and-replace command is not working properly (not sure why this would be the case, I ran it with sudo per the instructions)

I'll probably have to work on my project using the dev kit carrier board until this issue is resolved.

For the USB issue, I am powering the Jetson with the supplied power connection and used the instructions for installing JP6.1

I had 1x camera connected via the USB3 ports (next to Ethernet jack):

Inserting an externally-powered USB device worked fine - device was detected as normal. So it does sound like some issue with the USB's power control.

EDIT: If it's relevant, I am running my Jetson headless via an SSH connection.

FWIW, on 6.2, I was able to get the USB drivers working and run sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade. Stuff still seems to be working.

I did however make a super stupid mistake the first time so I opened a pr to help that. PR Here

A fresh installation works as expected and everything (USB, HDMI) works. However, as soon as I install something, e.g. ROS2 and a suda apt update / upgrade is required in the installation process, no USB port works after a reboot and direct interaction with the Jetson Orin is impossible. Unfortunately, the carrier board is unusable in this state. If there is no way to install the ‘correct’ USB drivers via SSH after an update, I will unfortunately have to return the board.

is there a way to reinstall the USB drivers on a running and updated system? Not to update is not a good solution. I have ssh and Remote Desktop running now and I am able to interact with the Jetson Orin Nano, but USB is not working. I also tried the newly added 6.2 installation but than my Wifi Card is not working.

Only the micro USB works for me. I have an adapter that goes to regular USB, so that’s my current workaround with 6.1. Finally got everything installed through SDK manager but had to go over Wi-Fi, even when I connect the micro USB to my host pc to install packages.

As far as I can tell, Seeed isn’t able to recreate the issue so they aren’t doing anything to fix it.

I haven’t tried 6.2, but was thinking of it until I saw this Wi-Fi issue… :-( @neurons9 which Wi-Fi adapter are using?

@neoscell i have a Waveshare Wireless AX210 NIC. The Problem is the iwlwifi driver. Wifi was completely dead after fresh installation and I was not able to get it work

I tried to update to 6.2 and then the USB WORKS! ... but the WiFi does NOT work!!! :-( AAAhhhhh
Wish this would just work! I am going to flash back to 6.1, so at least the WiFi works. I wonder if I do the upgrade to the system after that to get to 6.2 will it keep the WiFi or not?
I am wasting so much time on this when I could be using the board in my application :-(
We should be able to reliably upgrade this board to match JP upgrades, without worrying about these types of issues.

Same here, USB power is now working with JP6.2, and seems to persist after using sudo apt update / upgrade (though I assume the updating problem will come back as soon as a new JetPack version is released). However, WiFi is not working due to similar driver issues.

Running lspci shows an identified "Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter" (I'm using the M.2 wireless adapter that came with the Orin Nano 8GB dev kit). So definitely a driver issue.

When I try to manually install drivers (with ChatGPT's help), I hit a wall due to a bunch of unknown symbols related to loading the cfg80211 module. Not sure if this info helps or is common to others

Trying to manually install drivers for a Realtek USB Wi-Fi adapter results in similar issues.

In JetPack 6.2, even after installing iwlwifi, the Intel AX200 wireless card may not work properly. This could be due to the rfkill module not being enabled in the new kernel, preventing the wireless card from functioning correctly.
