Support for content providers #1690
Comments
not sure what you mean here. Is it about some cloud support? The app has no internet access do dont expect having it. |
No I'm just using drive as an example, there are other apps that do this like Termux,EDS,Shelter,Mega, etc. Link Keepass2Android is an example of an open source app that lets you access files from content providers. It would effectively add cloud support without having to implement any internet access to this app because it would pull the files from another app |
This would be very helpful. |
Are there any updates on the nextcloud support? |
not really, dont expect having it anytime soon |
I would love to have this feature, as well. I use Sync.com to store my files and other apps are able to access it like in the screenshot above. The "included folders" mechanism that Simple Gallery has, doesn't allow you to select from other providers. It also doesn't let you go into the "Internal Storage/Android/data/com.sync...." folder to manually include it. None of the app folders in "Internal Storage/Android/data" are showing up for me in this app (but they show up in a normal file viewer app). |
I want to echo need for this feature. Supporting content providers would be a killer feature for this app IMO compared to all other gallery apps. It would let me browse my photos on pcloud (which no gallery app explicitly supports) alongside my local photos. Do you think this is feasible to implement? AFAICT, content providers simply provide URIs for whatever content the other app exposes. So scanning those URIs should integrate fine with the current approach, right? |
+1 Currently I have stored all my family pics and videos on a local webdav media server (NAS). DAVx5 handles the connection to the webdav server. And via "Files" (same as @Mar2ck does) I can locate the content. Clicking on a pic or video opens the Simple-Galery app. Unfortunately swipe does not work. Is it really that difficult to add an extra folder (location) to SG? BTW. I love your awesome tools! |
Would be nice to add content providers to included folders similar to adding USB drives. For example google drive provides one:
