During the last few dev builds I've noticed every once in a while you'll get a lag spike that is accompanied by the camera resetting its position around your vessel, and the text "Camera: AUTO" appearing. This same behavior is observed in Vanilla KSP when you first load into a vessel. When this occurs the affected player's status string will often change for a fraction of a second
While this is most easily observed while spectating a vessel, I've also encountered it while piloting my own ship near that of another client.
1:08 - Godarklight's status loses the <godarklight2> part at the end.
2:14 - Godarklight's status actually says Preparing/launching from KSC.
3:00 - As in 1:08, godarklight's status drops <godarklight2>.
3:45 - Again, godarklight's status string drops <godarklight2>.
4:31 - This time no observable change to godarklight's status.
4:43 - The moment the vessel touches down, it appears sideways for a single frame. At this point godarklight's status actually mirrors that of godarklight2 exactly, as if it is also piloting the vessel (although the "This vessel is currently controlled by another player" text is still visible in the middle of the screen). While there is no visible Change to the camera orientation, but that is only because the camera was actually not moved since the 4:31 reset.

A recent example of this can be observed in Darklight's test video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RFmrdFsn60 - The issue occurs at:
