Not sure how best to provide this information, but these are the kinds of things I'd expect:

Heat signature (just temperature)
When an object performs an active scan - Maybe a ping that appears next to their contact
When an object has an active communication - maybe waves that emanate from the contact
Size (probably just length) - Maybe we have different size classes at discrete levels
Shields raised or lowered - A ring around the ship
When a ship activates transporters
