New fields for Snippets

I want to make / menu to show a list like the one in Notion:

So there need to be some additional fields, I suggest adding preview for the content shown in the tooltip on the right, and a description for the small text below the title. And an icon image (or two-character text) to show on the left of the title.

Text files should allow $1 to ask snippet provider to set the cursor <center>$1</center>.

For example:

It is not easy to add multi-line wikitext in a field in tid file, we can use a tiddler title in the preview field. Snippet menu providers may check tid existence using $tw.wiki.getTiddlerText before render preview directly.

And for i18n... I think we have to provide snippet package for different languages? I don't know a good way to do i18n in plugins and tiddler fields.

Hi @linonetwo those look like reasonable extensions. Are you proposing to submit those changes for the core, including an update to the snippet menu in the text editor?

I think i will update core snippets (though no much currently).

What I more wanted to do is add every wikitext syntex snippet with i18n and en/cn language support.
I have add this to the code mirror extended, but doing i18n in a plugin is cumbersome, so I wonder if I can add this to the core.

I will handle core snippet list later, after my wysiwyg editor is stabled.

I don't think it's worth adding these fields to the core snippets unless we also update the snippet dropdown to show the new information.

@Jermolene I also hope system tags (like $:/tags/SideBar) can have these fields (with translation) too, so new users can use / menu or native tag selection menu to search&add system tags without the need to read through all tiddlywiki documentations.

And those system tags with these fields should ship with the core and language pack. I believe this will create more affordance for new users.

It is possible that the docs tiddlers for system tags should be separate tiddlers (eg, $:/docs/$:/tags/SideBar) rather than using fields so that we can package them into the internals plugin and more easily manage translations.
