Can confirm on my (Ubuntu 24.04.1) machine on which I've been playing cs2 for ages. Just suddenly stopped working. Last match was Friday Jan 3rd, so somewhere between then and about two days ago. See also another report here: |
I am also experiencing this, Installed Arch Dec 16th, CS2 worked flawlessly up until Jan 2nd, unable to queue because of the above VAC error since. Steam System Info: https://gist.github.com/NailLegProcessorDivide/5846ce6e4172ab07ff0a047e5a4450e3 Fully up to date Arch install and have tried:

Update: Seems to work now. Not sure if today's update fixed it or if it was just the amount of time but I can finally play again. |
I closed it because it worked for one game. Now it is back again and kicked me from the game |
Seems to be working fine now. It was just the one game that kicked me, now it is back to normal and all good. Will update if it comes back again but for now it's closed. |
Can confirm that it's solved. |

Describe what you expected should happen and what did happen. Please link any large pastes as a Github Gist.
I have been trying to play this game on Arch Linux for a week+ but I keep getting the same VAC error when trying to join a game. I am running it natively without proton but I think the game still thinks I'm running proton for some reason? Not sure though as I can't get logs anywhere that can help me diagnose it.
I have tried reinstalling steam, reinstalling CS, removing all proton games, removing the ability to use proton, removing all of my configs, resetting my steam name and pfp, removing shader cache, removing steam overlay, removing steam cloud, removing everything. Nothing works. I swear if it's been listed as a 'solution' online, I have tried it. I've been trying something new every day since this happened and I still can't play a game of DM even.
