This issue was reproduced and fixed by lichess at lichess-org#16806. Unfortunately, it is beyond my knowledge of web development to make a pull request.

Steps to reproduce the bug
Just go to the home page. This issue is seen on various pages.

What did you expect to happen?
As Chromium 132 on Fedora 41:

Firefox 134 on the same box:

  • Linux (Fedora 41)

Thanks for reporting this. Seems like it should be fixed with firefox 135 - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1941820
I will probably review the fonts regardless tho.
