What problem does this address?

The prompt may work in a blank canvas, but it is easily missed in a busier one.

@talldan
When I create a group I'm blocked from moving items into it until a default container type is selected in the UI. Because this isn't a modal that blocks further actions in the editor it's easy to forget that it has to be set in order to take other elments. So when I actually move an item into a group nothing may happen because the action is blocked.

In other design programs I'm used to create containers or layers and be able to add stuff quickly. In the site editor/gutenberg I'm blocked by having to set the default container type of the group block first. Even knowing about this it happens multiple times during a day that I just forget to set the container type in advance. I'm very likely not the only one.

What is your proposed solution?

Could be solved by assuming the single container by default. So far I haven't even used the split group options.
