I can replicate this using GB 19.8 and WP 6.7.1 in the Twenty Twenty-Five theme. If you select the "offset" pattern baked into the Query Loop block, suddenly you both cannot select the query loop block again to continue switching between patterns and controls are visible for the parent group block.

I replicated this with two different themes:

query.loop.block.controls.revealed.mov
switching.out.query.loop.patterns.reveals.controls.mov

To replicate

  1. Turn on the write mode experiment and use GB 19.8.
  2. Ensure you're using TT5.
  3. Open Site Editor.
  4. Turn on write mode.
  5. Select Query Loop block.
  6. Select "Replace" in the toolbar.
  7. Select the "offset" pattern.
  8. Notice if you select the parent group block in the resulting pattern, you can see Group controls. You shouldn't be able to see these.
