Also the counter badge for the icon has gone away. See image:

  1. On the white icon, it seems Lollipop and above need a transparent icon in white which I did not create. I'll fix this in the new build http://stackoverflow.com/questions/29728902/android-5-1-push-notification-icon-is-blank

  2. On the badges missing, you are now using push notifications for Android and Android does not have a concept of badges with push notifications. The advantage is that even if your app is killed you will still get it. If you want to switch back to web sockets you should see the badge working (and the icon should become a bell again)

yeah, I noticed I can't stop the events from coming in. Sounds like popcorn going off over here. :)
Let me know if I'm overloading your server. I can turn it off except for when I'm testing.

Hah, no thats fine. Let's see how it affects my server. You could try to use the filter intervals if its a botheration to you (no problem for me - I want to see what happens when people start using my home server)

Also just noticed the "jiggling" bell is also gone from within the app itself.

Okay, that's an error. I might have broken something.
I'll check

@alager I just tried it. When the app is in foreground and an alarm is generated, the jiggling bell shows up. If its in the background and then you load the app, the jiggling bell does not show up. Is that what you are seeing?

yep...I was keeping the app closed, so only saw that it wasn't there. But now that I have it open it does show up.
