The version of zmNinja you are reporting:

1.3.091

The version and OS of ZoneMinder you are using:

1.34.6, Ubuntu Server 18.04.3

Platform zmNinja is running on

iPhone 7 iOS 11.1.2

Describe the bug
When launching zmNinja from a notification, my zmNinja app occasionally becomes unusable, and I need to uninstall and reinstall the app to get it working again. It just hangs at the vertically centered larger zmNinja logo/splash image indefinitely, no controls, no messages, unresponsive. Doesn't matter if internet is disabled, the app just does not start.
I am not 100% sure that this only happens when launching from a notification, but the last 3 times this has happened I had launched it from the notification, so its a slightly educated hunch?
This could possibly be related to https://github.com/pliablepixels/zmNinja/issues/903

Debug logs

Could not retrieve debug logs from app because it won't start.
No related log events found in zm logs.

Additional context
Also, I had tapped the notification pretty quick after it arrived, and the event hadn't finished recording, don't know if that's related.
Also, also, the phone still receives notifications when the app won't open.

Hmm I haven't heard that before:

  1. Did it start happening after any specific update?
  2. Does it only (occasionally) happen when you tap on notifications?
  3. How often does that happen? I know you said 3 times, but over what range of usage?

Yeah, its a weird one.

  1. It started happening no earlier than v1.3.088 after migrating from zm 1.32 to 1.34
  2. Yes, it is quite occasional, and I cannot confirm if it only happens when I tap notifications, but that seems to be the trend.
  3. It has happened a total of 5 times since mid February.
I wish I could provide more context. But for now, I'm just waiting for it to happen again, so I can see if there are any more noticeable trends.

Okay, here is an update on this.
It has happened 2 times this last month, one time when I launched from an older notification (a few hours), and another time from a regular launch.
So now I'm not as confident the issue is related to launching from notifications...
I still couldn't pin point anything that could have caused this in the logs or anything.
It's almost as if it stuck is trying to load an event/view/monitor that no longer/doesn't exist(s), and it doesn't reset or default to something like montage after it fails.

Regular launch too? Hmm. This is a tough one because I can’t replicate it. Can you pull logs after this happens? The file is called zmNinjaLog.txt (mine was in /data/data/com.pliablepixels.zmninja_pro/files). It would be inside the application folder. I too think it’s getting stuck in some exception.

Does the log exist on iOS? If so, I can try to use filza to grab the file next time this happens.
