A BOUGHT A TERABYTE SANDISK HARDDRIVE, AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY FOR 1 WEEK UNTIL I DOWNLOADED MATE AND LXDE IN A SESSION. I log out, and get to the log in screen, WHEN I LOG IN IT TURNS BLACK AND TAKES ME TO "CONFIRM RETURNING TO SECURE MODE"

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Log into a fresh session
  2. Download multiple desktop environments
  3. Log out
  4. Log in
  5. Feel Pain

Expected behavior
TO BE ABLE TO LOG INTO ANY OF THE ENVIRMENTS

Target Chrome OS Device (please complete the following information):

  • dedede
  • idk
  • Shimboot version (e.g. v1.2.1)

Can you give more details? What happens after a reboot? And are you sure that the drive is genuine?

I enter in to the log in screen

You probably have a bad USB stick

I paid fifty dollars for a sanddisk hardrive and it worked for 2 weeks

A real Sandisk 1 terabyte USB drive costs around 80-100$.

Well to be fair, many manufacturers don't recommend SanDisk USB drives as your go to recovery media because of their common corruption. Although I personally haven't experienced anything wrong yet, he might've been the victim.

I ran into this issue too, my SD Card was failing. I recommend just returning the card if possible and getting a new one. If it is faulty you might have it in warranty

I made the same mistake with a 128GB SanDisk USB. Constant corruption, never buying from SanDisk again
