Press Ctrl + D go into dev mode then try again you will get an error bc schools block this mode but its fine. So to recap Ctrl + D then Enter to confirm then Esc + Refresh + Power.

On some Chromebooks, doing the trick won't work. So before the screen even shows up after using Ctrl + D, press Power + Refresh + Esc. This solved my problem when my Chromebook didn't detect the shim.
