the GUI(x11) is broken on BARLA (grunt) (HP Chromebook 11A G6/G8 EE)

Describe the bug
so when It attempted to start lightdm or any other display manager it just shows the cursor and I can still interact with things but I just see a blank screen and nothing else which is probably an issue with x11 it self.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Get any debain grunt image of shimboot
2. boot into it
3. select option 3
4. it does the issue described above

Expected behavior
when x11 is ment to start with the display manager it just shows a blank screen and a cursor which I can still interact with items

Target Chrome OS Device (please complete the following information):

• Board Name - grunt
• Device Name - barla
• Shimboot version - 1.2.1

Additional context
and also option 1 and 2 will both just start chrome os repair but that is not as important

Try building with gnome + GDM or plasma + SDDM to check if it's an issue with lightdm.
