As I went to the gym today with no mask and then bought groceries with no mask, I happily realized that in person developer meetups will likely be coming back soon too!
As a part time recruiter/developer outreach manager at Integral I would host them all the time. Recruit speakers, advertise Integral, live code, demo, you name it.
I'd like to host Octobay meetups here in Boston called Octobay Metabuild Meetup: a crypto-centric "show me the code" meetup where developers work together on the Octobay platform to build Octobay itself (hence the "meta" in metabuild).
Attendees benefit from earning real bounties, crypto consulting, meeting other devs, and getting to say on their CVs that they have contributed to an open source blockchain project Octobay benefits from the platform exposure and onboarding new developers to the platform Andrew benefits by getting back into his element talking with other devs in person about things he loves and pair programming
We would prepare and fund several low-hanging fruit issues on our Ocotbay repos that could be completed in one sitting at the meetup itself, so people can claim their bounties by the time they leave!
I think this would be three birds one stone with our funding: marketing, work, and networking.
Agenda 15 mins - Presentation on atomic contracting and why we need issue bounties 15 mins - Demo of the Octobay platform 5 mins - Split groups to onboard people onto Ethereum with MetaMask. Those who know more about crypto help those who need some help. I know you can receive bounties without an ethereum account, but I think it's a civic duty to help as many people as possible make their first steps into the decentralized space. 5 mins - Split up into teams based on interest in bounty 30 mins - 1 hour - Live coding and pair programming on issues 5 mins - Each group gets paid if they complete their issue. If not, no big deal! They can continue working after the meetup!
