Are you committing the snapshots files into Git? Have you run into issues with that?

Yes, the snapshots themselves are stored in git.

I have not seen it be a problem and if it does become problematic in some repos due to the size of the images or the sheer amount of them then git lfs could be used to manage that.

Setting the correct git attributes is also recommended as images are binary.
