Noted and agreed on "u/v" and "i," and I'll be using Classical Latin. When there are several options for a given name, I use the name of the article in Latin Wikipedia, though I (currently) have two guidelines on whether to include another name in
The second guideline is subject to change if I find that Lastly, I had initially thought to include macrons due to personal preference, though, seeing that Latin Wikipedia has standardized on not using them, I'll forego that. Another reason to not use them here is that most of the reference works for these place names don't use them, and, therefore, I could never be certain if a given name has a long or short vowel in a given position. I could make an educated guess, of course, but I think consistency, coupled with adherence to the widely accepted orthographic standard, is better. |
