Documentation on establishing a connection

I had to dig through the code to see how to establish a connection. I did not find it in the example or the README instructions.

If you are open to contributions, I am sure I or someone else would be glad to contribute the documentation in the README or possibly show that in the example file.

I no longer work at Arena, and there haven't been any commits to this in 2 years. Probably let's give them a chance to chime in on ownership, but it's likely that this project needs a new home.
