Actually it is already working and finished. I use it already in production environement. I just forgot to push latest release.

You could get it from my ppa https://launchpad.net/~tuleu/+archive/ppa

For now I only target Ubuntu LTS release. if you need a more recent one, I could easily backport from unstable to it.

By looking at your work, I see that there is a brand new version of OpenNI/OpenNI2

I just uploaded to my ppa an updated package, should be build in a few hours.

I also checked out your work, and it seems to me that you started form debian-openni. I prefered restart from scratch, since the build system was completely revamped in OpenNI2. I did use the debian-openni as a model to separate my packages.

However I fear that our approaches may be totally incompatible to just use PRs between our repos

Hi, I would propose to merge this into the pkg-multimedia repo here: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-multimedia/openni2.git. @atuleu would be really great if you could help to get this into Debian.
