I am also getting the same issue. Can force it to reappear if I open stock Terminal/VScode terminal and begin typing a command (i.e. cd ) and then return to the drop down iTerm window. However, on occasion, the drop down will then start autosuggesting but the box is misplaced (i.e., at the site of the other terminal). Sometimes I have to quit and reopen iTerm. Edit: There was a warning next to 'Window restoration policy' in iTerm prefs. I changed it from 'Use System... Setting' to 'Only Restore Hotkey Window' and that resulted in the hotkey window working perfectly - but not other terminals. To get it to work across all terminals I had to turn off the option in System Settings>Desktop & Dock>Close windows when quitting an application and revert back to setting iTerm window restoration policy as 'Use System... Setting' - it seems to work in all terminals and the hotkey window. However, with these settings, if I use autocomplete in VScode and then quit VScode, the hotkey window then does not work until I open a new iTerm window - then it works again. Edit2: Sorry for another edit. My main issue now seems to be integration across VScode (maybe not specifically) and hotkey window. Starting with a working auto complete in the hotkey window. I open VScode from the hotkey CL, auto complete works in VScode. It does not then work in the hotkey window. However, if I type 'cd' into VScode terminal and switch to hotkey, it then works in hotkey but the box is still located after 'cd ' in VScode. This is the behaviour when iTerm prefs window restoration is set to system setting (regardless of actual system setting it appears). When the iTerm window restoration is instead set to hotkey window only, I get the reverse issue - typing cd in VScode brings up the auto complete at the location of the hotkey window. So it seems like the behaviour is primarily related to the iTerm window restoration setting. I can 'fix' it by changing the window restoration setting from one to the other (and back again) OR if I open the hotkey and it doesn't work, closing and reopening the hotkey seems to fix it too (This last fix only works if the iTerm window restoration pref is set to system setting and not hotkey only). Equally, if I have a misplaced box when working if VScode (erroneously at the site of hotkey window), flipping from VScode window to another (safari etc) and back again restores the auto complete box in the correct location at the VScode terminal. |

Hi all. This is definitely an issue. We have marked it as a "known bug" and we will investigate a fix. The issue occurs due the macOS equivalent of z-index. We probably are showing up, but just behind the floating window... Try verifying this my making your hotkey window transparent. To solve it, you can often mess around with the "space". Nonetheless, we are aware of the issue and will investigate |

Hi Brendan, thanks for the reply and your continued work on this. I can confirm it often appears behind the hotkey window. Other times at the site of the terminal in VSCode. Will play with the "space" option for now, thanks! |

This fix allows me to see it when using my VSCode terminal, although is now anchored middle upper right on my primary monitor regardless of where VSCode window is open. I am still struggling to get it working in iTerm2 at all perhaps similar issue as rsmuers. iterm2-profile.json

@brendanfalk is unrelated to the macOS equivalent of z-index in my case. Instead, it appears to be a focus management issue. When Quake Mode is enabled, the terminal window seems to lose focus. Through testing, I found that clicking the window's header restores functionality to autocompletes, possibly because the window regains focus upon the mouse click, allowing the autocomplete popover to position itself correctly. However, the issue reoccurs when the terminal window is closed by clicking outside of it. |
