We do not support or develop Grbl_Esp32 any more. We only support its successor FluidNC.

I have NPN proximity sensors. I had evil EMI issues. I ended up with everything opto-isolated and sensors & opto isolators running at 24V.

Upshot is the same though: NPN emitter tied to GND. Collector tied to your pin with pull up resistor, internal or external. When sensor fires, it pulls the pin to GND. Bread and butter stuff.

Try using FluidNC. It is the current name and version of Grbl_ESP32.
