many bufr variables are encoded from flag tables (e.g. SAID encodes the satellite ID for a given observation). We currently are not decoding these, but it would be helpful for the user to not have to google "BUFR SAID" (like I keep doing) to decode these values.
At a minimum, every Variable that is a from a code table should have a link to the relevant bufr table. A step up would be a decode_codes() utility that a user can call to translate codes.
