Tools for digital tracking #2
Comments
Hi @kasperwelbers , this is a great idea. At GEEIS we have a service for collecting social media data (currently Twitter / FB ) http://mediamonitoring.gesis.org/ (see here and here for the papers) . Furthermore, we are currently developing an experimental GESIS Notebooks service based on Jupyter. I'm looking forward to hearing what you are using. |
Hi @arnim, that's fascinating stuff! For a new project we're looking into ways to track newsconsumption behavior for mobile and desktop. The e-science engineers on the project are currently writing up a white paper about the more promising ideas and the according boons and challenges, so it'll be great to 'compare lists'. Chris Karr @audaciouscode has also developed some really nice tools, and I'm sure more participants have things to show, so I think we have a strong foundation for a tool demo session. |
@Judithmoeller pointed me by email to some work done in München for tracking news feeds on Facebook: https://fbforschung.de/projekt |
Many of us have used and/or developed tools for collecting digital trace data. It would be great if one of the outcomes of this workshop is a curated list of good tools, and a general overview of what types of tools work well for what purposes. Also, for the tools being developed by participants, it would be great to share ideas regarding future plans, and to combine efforts where possible.
We can combine this with tool demo's (but please let us know beforehand so we can make a schedule)
