Bug within the version of msysgit 1.8.5.2

A bug is present within the version 1.8.5.2 of msysgit.

When trying to push to remote protected repository, you get the following message:

"fatal: could not read Username for 'https://url': No such file or directory"
or
"fatal: could not read Password for 'https://xxxxxx@url': No such file or directory"

It is a known bug, here the report : msysgit/msysgit#153.

The version of msysgit should be updated.

I had success downloading the 1.9 preview from https://github.com/bungeshea/GitPortable/ , unzipping it, and basically replacing the corresponding directories.

Of course, now that I said that, I'm sure it'll break. :)

I did the same but with a previous version already on my computer.
Until now, i did'nt have any problem with it.
