Unable to log in via Github or normal email account verification

To Reproduce

1. Go to https://www.codewars.com/join
2. Click on "link Github account" and follow steps - you will be redirected to https://www.codewars.com/
3. Navigate to https://www.codewars.com/users/sign_in
4. Click on "Sign up with Github"
5. It will redirect you to https://www.codewars.com/ with the console logs saying "signed_in false" and "not signed in"

Expected behavior
Be signed in

Additional context
I have tried creating different accounts via normal email sign up and that worked but it combined information from multiple login attempts into the profile. For example, I used [email protected] for sign up with a username of mimiXXXX after trying to sign up with Github which is linked to an [email protected] email address. I logged out after signing up and signed in via Github and it said the profile is linked to the protonmail email but is linked to my Github account ... The username was annamarieH which I used in another attempt to sign in ... something isn't right with the sign up (I deleted that account so I don't have screenshots to show but I will try to reproduce it)
