:selected styles not applying

When I add custom styles for :selected, those styles do not apply when clicking on a node and I have not seen an example online where this functionality is working as expected.

Is there an example you can show how, when clicking a single node, we can change that node's colour?

Still facing this issue, it appears that the JS link into jupyter lab may have been deprecated...?

(Deprecated) Installing extensions with the jupyter labextension install command is now deprecated and will be removed in a future major version of JupyterLab.
