Currently there is now bot available that makes it possible to moderate users custom status which is really probably because server members can have a custom status that they would normally get banned for saying in chat, without facing consequences unless staff members notice.

There is nothing currently stopping you from kicking/muting/banning members who use a custom status that breaks a rule in your server. What is the problem exactly?

If the problem is that you can't read custom status, #1162 already puts the info in the docs but bots should already be able to receive the information. Talk to the developer of the library you use on implementing it in their library.

Because custom status is a user-space vanity feature (similar to username and avatar), we have no current plans to expose moderation APIs for it. If you or others find users are breaking our CoC through custom status, our Trust and Safety team is equipped to assist in the meantime: https://dis.gd/contact
